I am a self-confessed bookaholic and have become hooked on the Outlander series since discovering it in the visitor centre on the site of the Battle of Culloden. It couldn’t have been a more appropriate location to be introduced to the adventures of Jamie and Claire.
Outlander has some great story lines and fascinating characters and we are now also able to enjoy the TV series which is a fantastic showcase for the beautiful country of Scotland.
I would be delighted to take you to the actual places which feature in the books and also the locations where the TV series was filmed. I was one of the tourist guides chosen to guide 200 Outlander fans around filming locations for the UK Outlander Gathering in 2015.
I am a professional writer so you won’t be surprised to hear that I love telling stories and sharing my knowledge of Scotland. I promise you it is not about dry facts – my key aim is to be an entertaining guide and I am sensitive to the interests of all generations. I have deep roots in Scotland – my family goes back generations as crofters on the stunningly beautiful Wester Ross coast. I also have cousins who are Frasers!
I am available as a guide to accompany chauffeur driven tours or walking tours.
I also have my own Ford Galaxy vehicle which can comfortably seat four people on an extended tour or up to six on a day tour. If you have bigger party I can hire a vehicle with up to eight seats.
TOP TIP FOR VISITORS
My best advice for any visitor to Scotland is “Less is More” and get off the beaten track (you don’t have to go that far either). Don’t try and do this country in one day, fitting in too much will detract from your experience.
IF YOU DO ONLY ONE THING IN SCOTLAND
Visit the castle of East Lothian when you visit Preston Mill (location of the infamous Jamie underwear scene…).
