As we all know, the fan base for the Outlander series is dedicated, vast and global – and what a wonderful Outlander world we all live in in our heads ! But instead of just leaving it there, each of us with our own wee Outlander bubble, a dedicated group of individuals in many countries have invested their time and energy into organising formal and informal meetings so that people can enjoy each others company and talk about all things Outlander over a wee dram or two.
There was an Outlander Gathering in Edinburgh earlier this year and it was a wonderful opportunity to meet people from all over the world – there were even dedicated individuals who flew in from USA, Dubai and all points on the compass just to be there. The fabulous organisers had planned an Outlander Quiz & pub night, walking tour of Royal Mile, a hike up Arthur’s Seat behind Edinburgh, dinner & dancing, a visit to Palace of Holyroodhouse and a lunch with special guests such as Adhamh O’Broin and one of the wolfhounds from the filming. There must have been over 100 people attending.
I’d like to raise a glass and say a BIG thank you to all group organisers worldwide, but especially the team behind UK Outlander Gathering & Outlandish UK who constantly work to bring news, views, twitter campaigns (UKTVNeedsOutlander !) and loads of new friendships and outlander love to all, no matter where they are based in the world.
Tina, Marina, Lisa, Angela C, Angela S, Aurora, Tracey, Jeni, Margo, Emilie, Julianne, Wendy – Ladies, you rock and I am really looking forward to the next Gathering in Edinburgh in 2015.
